Maintaining Accreditation

Now that you have earned accreditation, your organization is required to:

  • Use the Proper Logo and Advertising Language
  • Provide an Annual Report

Logo and Advertising Terms

IACET provides some assistance on ensuring that learners and industries recognize the IACET Brand. Providers who are accredited to offer IACET CEUs are eligible to use the IACET AP logo and shall be subject to these terms. Once you log into your portal, the Logo and Advertising Terms under the Resources Tab at www.iacet.org, will unlock.

Approved Logo

Accredited providers may use ONLY the official Accredited Provider logo provided by IACET. A logo in Spanish, French, and Chinese may be used on AP’s website and promotional materials if appropriate. These can be found at Logo and Advertising Terms - IACET once the organization is accredited and in good standing. They may not use other names, marks, or logos of IACET without IACET's prior approval.

The sample watermarked Accredited Provider logos should be used by Prospective Accredited Providers who are working on the initial application to mockup a certificate of completion. Accredited Providers working on the Renewal Application, can access the real, unwatermarked logos from the protected Logo and Advertising Terms resource page.

If your organization is using the AP logo on your website and promotional materials, you are required to use either the short or long version of the AP approved statement to describe your relationship with IACET.

IACET’s APs are encouraged to use the AP logo on their CE/T marketing materials or promotional materials for those learning events who are designed, developed, delivered, and evaluated in compliance with the ANSI/IACET Standard and award IACET CEUs... IACET’s AP logo has been designed in a box. This box must always be used as a single unit (including the outside rule). The elements within the box should never be altered in any way.

IACET AP logos used on websites should link to the provider’s IACET Accreditation Certificate. Providers can get their unique URL to the certificate by logging into IACET.org and clicking on “My Organization,” and then scrolling to the bottom of the page and getting their link as shown below.

What APs May Not Say or Do

  • You may not say IACET approves your programs. IACET approves organizations based on the processes used to plan, design, develop, deliver, and administer programs, not the programs themselves.
  • You may not say that you offer CEUs through IACET. IACET accredited organizations to offer IACET CEUs, but the CEUs come from the Accredited Provider organization, not from IACET.
  • If you sell a program to another company that then presents the program to its employees or clients, the IACET CEUs do not follow the program and the purchasing company may not claim that it or the program it purchased has any relationship to or with IACET.
  • Your AP status strictly prohibits your organization from approving/accrediting other continuing education and training course/program providers for IACET CEUs. The AP program is only intended for organizations that develop, deliver, assess, and evaluate their own continuing education and training offerings.

Annual Reporting

On your 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year anniversary, you will be asked to submit an annual report along with the annual accreditation fee of $1,095. As a part of the annual accreditation fee and annual report, you will be asked to complete your organization’s profile, as well as update the staff associated with the IACET account and update any administrative details that might have changed in the past year. As a part of the Annual Report, you will be asked the following:

  • How many CE/T events has your organization conducted during the past 12 months?
  • How many participants have been served by your organization's CE/T events in the past 12 months?
  • How many learners were awarded IACET CEUs in the past 12 months?
  • What is the total number of IACET CEUs awarded in the past 12 months?
  • Substantive changes to organization, responsibility and control?
  • Has there been any change in the mission or objectives of the CE/T unit?
  • Has there been any change in the management of the program or CE/T unit?
  • Has there been any change in the outsourcing or subcontracting of any of your organization's CE/T services (e.g., content development, instructional delivery, online capabilities, etc.)?
  • Has your organization been acquired by or merged with another organization?

You will also be asked to submit the following:

  • Documented review process to ensure the quality of the overall CE/T program and the consistent application of the Standard to include all categories and elements.

Deadlines for Annual Reporting/Dues Payment

Each year, no earlier than 90 days prior to their anniversary date, providers will pay annual maintenance fee and file an annual report to remain in good standing with IACET. The fee and report will keep the provider current on all developments with IACET and standards development through continued access to the IACET website, hosting the live digital certificate of accreditation, and listing accredited providers on the IACET website. To avoid any disruption in your status as an AP, the annual accreditation fee and annual report must be submitted prior to the anniversary date.

If the annual accreditation fee or annual report are not submitted prior to the anniversary, the organization’s accreditation will be suspended, and a $100 suspended accreditation re-activation fee applied to the invoice. The organization will have 30 days to pay the fees and a submit the annual report to comply with the requirements. After 30 days past the accreditation fee, organizations who are still noncompliant will have their accreditation revoked.

  • Annual Accreditation Fee: $1,095 due on or before the accreditation anniversary date.
  • Suspended Accreditation Re-activation Fee: $100 payment required for reactivation on the IACET website if dues are paid after the anniversary date.

Renewal of Accreditation

In addition to the annual report, every five years the organization will need to reaccredit to the current ANSI/IACET Standard. This is the 5-year cycle of accreditation.

The reapplication should be submitted at a minimum of 90 days prior to the anniversary date. Dues and the reaccreditation application are due 90 days prior to the anniversary date. The process for reaccreditation is to:

  • Purchase the reaccreditation application: $495.
  • Submit narratives and evidence of continued ANSI/IACET Standard conformance as well as the past five years of annual reports (these automatically pull from the IACET AMS into your reaccreditation application).

The payment for reaccreditation is $4,370 ($3,275 application review fee + $1,095 maintenance fee for the first year of the new 5-year accreditation cycle) and is due upon application submission.

Failure to adhere to the accreditation maintenance will result in the organization’s removal from the list of accredited providers. Organizations whose accreditation lapses are no longer authorized to issue IACET CEUs to their learners and are required to remove all IACET language and logos from their materials and marketing collateral. To encourage APs to submit the reaccreditation application and meet the minimum 90 day prior to accreditation expiration submission deadline, the following penalties will be imposed in these scenarios:

Maintaining Your Organization’s Profile

Put the anniversary date of your accreditation into the organization’s calendar to ensure that this reporting does not get missed. Paying the annual accreditation fee is just one part of maintaining your accreditation. Reporting on an annual basis is the other. Pulling the information, you need to answer the reporting requirements will take time as will putting the report together. Questions asked include verifying the accounts associated with your organization’s profile as well as completing your organization’s profile. This means the following:

  • Provider name has been provided.
  • Primary address has been provided.
  • Primary phone number has been provided.
  • Provider's website has been provided.
  • Target audience has been set.
  • Provider has a substantive description (at least 25 words).
  • Provider has uploaded a logo.
  • Provider has linked to at least one social network.
  • Provider has specified at least one industry.
  • Provider has specified at least one delivery method.

Having this information on the IACET website enables IACET to publicize the relationship and your accreditation. With a completed profile, those seeking CE/T professionals and organizations will be able to find you easier on the website. The data you provide helps IACET benchmark across industries and sectors and gives valuable information for further standards development. IACET wants you to also publicize your achievement and gives a live certificate code to embed in your website that will show your learners the commitment to quality that accreditation brings.

Compliance Monitoring

IACET Staff will review annual reports to ensure completion and compliance. If the annual report is found to be non-compliant or incomplete, it will return it for revisions. Non-compliance with the ANSI/IACET CE/T Standard and policies may result in having accreditation revoked.

Periodically, staff will forward the report to the Commission for audit and review to ensure that they are using only the approved statements and not misrepresenting their relationship with IACET.

For additional information, please contact IACET directly at accreditation@iacet.org.

Name Change, Merger, and Acquisitions

Mergers and acquisitions are a part of the business world and affect all aspects of an organization. Accredited Providers can be affected by these types of business decisions and this document is an attempt to help the APs remain in compliance with the most recent ANSI/IACET standard for CE/T.

Name Change

If a provider changes its name, a new accreditation application would not be required.

Within 30 days of the effective change, the AP would notify the Director of Accreditation and Training (accreditation@iacet.org) of a name change with appropriate documentation.

Accreditation staff will update the provider information and upload the updated documentation to the IACET AMS Portal.

Doing Business as (DBA) Designation

Providers may have more than one name that they train under. To accommodate this, IACET will allow for an AP to have only one additional DBA designation on the Certificate of Accreditation.

Both names for the organizations–the original name and the DBA–will show up in a search; however, the DBA will be the name displayed in the search results.

The DBA will also show on the Certificate of Accreditation.

Mergers

When an AP merges with another organization, two different scenarios exist.

Merging with A Non-AP Organization

If the current AP merges with another organization that is not a current IACET AP, IACET requires that the newly formed organization submit an application for initial accreditation and pay applicable fees within 30 days of the effective change. The Accreditation staff will assign the application to the Commission for review.

APs Merging

If all organizations accredited by IACET merge, IACET requires that the newly formed organization notify and pay applicable fees within 30 days of the effective change. The organization must complete and submit the Transitional Compliance Checklist with the next Annual Report.

Acquisitions

An acquisition is when one company purchases most or all another company's shares to gain control of that company.

AP Acquired by Non-AP

When a non-AP acquires an AP, IACET requires that the organization submit an application for initial accreditation and pay applicable fees within 30 days of the effective change. The Accreditation staff will assign the application to the Commission for review.

Existing AP Acquires Non-AP

When an organization accredited by IACET acquires a Non-AP, IACET requires that the organization notify and pay applicable fees within 30 days of the effective change. The organization must complete and submit the Transitional Compliance Checklist with the next Annual Report.

Existing AP Acquires another AP

When an organization accredited by IACET acquires another organization that is also accredited by IACET, IACET requires that both organizations notify and pay applicable fees within 30 days of the effective change. The acquiring organization must complete and submit the Transitional Compliance Checklist with the next Annual Report.

Separation

A separation is when an AP spins-off, separates, or divests of the training program, either in-whole or in part, into a new organization.

AP Separates Training Program and Wishes to Maintain the Accreditation

When an AP separates its training program, either in-whole or in-part, and wishes to maintain the accreditation, IACET requires that the current AP notify and pay applicable fees within 30 days of the effective change. The organization must complete and submit the Transitional Compliance Checklist with the next Annual Report.

If the new organization wishes to become accredited, IACET requires that the new organization submit an application for initial accreditation and pay applicable fees. The Accreditation staff will assign the application to the Commission for review. IACET shall waive the requirement for the new organization to have been in business for one year.

AP Separates Training Program and Wishes to Transfer Accreditation to the New Organization

When an AP separates its training program, either whole or in-part, and wishes to transfer the accreditation to the new organization, IACET requires that the newly formed organization notify and pay applicable fees within 30 days of the effective change. The organization must complete and submit the Transitional Compliance Checklist with the next Annual Report.

The original organization must submit legal documentation to accreditation@iacet.org stating that they will no longer offer IACET CEUs within 30 days of the effective date of the change.
