Course Description

Reimagined for the global, practical approaches necessary for modern training success, IACET’s Foundations of Learner Motivation and Engagement workshop empowers learners and leaders alike with the latest trends, studies, and research in the continuing education and training ecosystem. Designed with learning-to-performance measurement in mind, the revised course breaks key content and concepts down into specialized learning modules, threading together knowledge transfer and practice performance to create impactful and realistic learning experience.

 

Course Modules include:

  • Module 1: Motivation for Learner Engagement
  • Module 2: Active Learning Opportunities
  • Module 3: Applications Beyond Training
  • Module 4: Going from Theory to Practice
  • Module 5: Bridging Delivery to Analysis

 

Workshop Completion Requirements

Completion of this course awards the following IACET Digital Credentials based on materials completed:

  • Bronze Tier | Requires completion of all eLearning Modules as validated through IACET’s LMS.
  • Silver Tier | Requires completion of all previous Badge Tiers in addition to attendance and active participation during the Week 1 and 2 Live Facilitation sessions.
  • Gold Tier | Requires completion of all previous Badge Tiers in addition to completion of the Foundations of Learner Motivation and Engagement Final Assessment with a minimum score of 80%.

 

Cohort Schedule

  • 9/4/2025 | eLearning Module 1 – Explore the foundations of learner engagement, active learning opportunities, and non-traditional ways of learner engagement!
  • 9/11/2025 | Week 1 Live Facilitation – Join your facilitator for an interactive, practical-application cohort engagement from 11:00 AM ET to 1:00 PM ET. This session focuses on collaboration and application, empowering you through realistic use cases and practical application to drive learner motivation.
  • 9/12/2025 | eLearning Module 2 – Keep the momentum alive in our second eLearning Module! Across two lessons, you'll dig deeper into key concepts, exploring how you can promote active learning engagement through practical application, engaging assessment, and analytical prowess.
  • 9/18/2025 | Week 2 Live Facilitation – Join your facilitator from 11:00 AM ET – 1:00 PM ET for our final Live Facilitation, pulling your handouts, checklists, tool kits, and case studies together for a reflective close up.
  • 9/18/2025 | Cohort Final Assessment Open – Eager to claim an open digital credential and showcase your success? Complete the optional Final Assessment to earn your Gold Tier Badge, shareable via social media. You’ll have until 9/23/2025 to complete the material before your course enrollment expires!

 

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this workshop, learners will be able to:

  • Identify the role of dopamine in boosting drive and willingness to exert effort towards goals.
  • Examine the role of retrieval practice and other techniques, such as working with sample problems, in effectively embedding new information in long-term memory, rather than relying solely on temporary storage in working memory.
  • Explore substitutes for training, including alternative supports, considerations, and mechanisms for effective application.
  • Align approaches in learning theory, model, and instructional framework to the appropriate assessment methodology.
  • Differentiate between analysis, assessment, and evaluation in adult education experiences.

Delaney is passionate and enthusiastic about writing curriculum, content, and training material for a purpose. She is a facilitator and instructor who works with people, teams and corporations to develop and deliver specialized curriculum and training. Delaney has a Master's Degree in Adult Education & Global Change with a specialization in curriculum development and educational coaching for seminars, workshops and short courses.  She also has over ten year's experience as an instructor and trainer working with adults in all types of environments and workspaces.

  • Program Planning, Evaluation and Instructional Methods in Adult Education
  • Extensive experience with providing educational consulting on training products

She is also an accomplished training professional with an impressive history of driving organizational results with training and development solutions. As a versatile leader and educator, she has broad experience in areas such as needs assessment, instructional design, classroom/virtual training, training facilitation, and program assessment. Innovative thinker who uses training interventions/programs to enable an organization’s strategy and top priorities. Delaney is comfortable working with people from all cultures and has created training strategies to deal with adults who face multiple barriers and issues in their personal and professional lives.

Success in a learning event is dependent on active participation and engagement by the attendee throughout the course. In order to earn a course completion certificate and digital badge for any IACET learning event, attendees are required to fully participate in the training activities, lectures, and discussions. This applies to those attending in-person and remotely. Participation is defined as greater than 90% attendance of the scheduled course time and active engagement verified by the facilitator.

 

Full refunds are available for cancelations with written notification to info@iacet.org within 20 days of the event. Refunds of 50% of the registration are available within 10 days of the event. No refund is available 5 days prior to the event due to prepaid expenses on behalf of the participant.
