The International Association for Continuing Education and Training Moves to Loudoun County
[18 August 2020]
Sterling, Virginia
The International Association of Continuing Education and Training (IACET), an educational standard developing organization, announced today that they have moved their corporate offices to Loudoun County, VA.
“We made a deliberate decision to move from Fairfax County to Loudoun County,” said Casandra Blassingame, CEO of IACET. “Our previous lease was expiring, and Loudoun County seemed like an obvious option, because so many of our staff already reside here.”
“Moving to Loudoun County gives us an opportunity to develop relationships with local businesses and expand our growing network,” Blassingame continued. “I believe it’s important for any organization to develop meaningful relationships and partnerships within the community.”
IACET has hired Loudoun County graduates both permanent and through contracting opportunities. The organization plans to partner with the Loudoun County Public Schools to establish volunteer and internship opportunities to expose young people to the careers in the association and accreditation spaces.
“We want to be a part of the growth strategy in the County. We want to be a part of the reason Loudoun is strengthened post-pandemic. The county has strong, thoughtful leadership and an incredible business community,” said Blassingame.
“We are thrilled to welcome IACET’s corporate headquarters to Loudoun County,” Loudoun Economic Development’s Executive Director Buddy Rizer said. “IACET’s vision of advancing the global workforce aligns closely with our own efforts to attract, develop and upskill the people that power Loudoun’s economy. We appreciate IACET’s recognition of the #LoudounPossible advantages of working here, and look forward to their continued growth in Loudoun County.”
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Continuing Education Unit (CEU), a worldwide standard used in continuing education and training programs. As more organizations are requiring their employees to continue their education throughout their careers, CEUs are sought by teachers, state and federal government employees, corporations, architects, engineers, IT professionals, nurses, counselors, corporate managers and many more professionals.
“As the CEU turns 50, we are reminded of our foundational ties to the U.S. Department of Education as a commitment to be driving force for the quality and measurability of continuing education activity,” Blassingame concluded. “We look forward to expanding our global presence from our new home in Loudoun.
IACET’s mission is to improve the quality of continuing education and training worldwide through accreditation with a vision to advance the global workforce. The organization’s history includes development of the original Continuing Education Unit (CEU) and creation and maintenance of the ANSI/IACET Standard for Continuing Education and Training.
