IACET to Have Big Presence at ATD International Conference & Exposition
The largest association dedicated to professionals of learning and development, the Association for Talent Development (ATD) (formerly the American Society for Training and Development), is preparing to host its annual international conference and exposition in Orlando, FL. More than 10,500 learning professionals from around the world will assemble together to learn about latest industry trends, share best practices and insights, and network with peers and prominent thought-leaders. We hope they learn more about IACET and the benefits of becoming accredited, too.
The International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) will have a big presence as this event. In fact, in addition to having a booth in the expo hall for attendees to learn about IACET and the accreditation process, IACET is also sponsoring a reception for Certified Professionals in Learning and Performance (CPLP©), individuals who have demonstrated their expertise in learning and performance through a knowledge exam and competency-based work product. The CPLP designation is administered by the ATD Certification Institute and is the prominent individual certification for professionals in our field.
As a CPLP since 2008, ATD invited me to serve with two other panelists at the CPLP Speaker Forum, an event exclusively for CPLPs, which will focus on operating learning programs from a global perspective.
Further, IACET recently collaborated with ATD on a joint research initiative undertaken by Dr. William “Bill” Rothwell and graduate students from Penn State University to determine prevalent practices in instructional design, an area that overlaps both ATD’s competency model and the IACET/ANSI 1-2013 Standard. This research has now concluded, and I have been asked to represent IACET on a panel to present our findings, along with Dr. Rothwell, his colleagues Aileen “Leen” Zaballero and Jessica Briskin, and moderator Ann Parker of ATD. The session is titled “Competencies, Challenges, and Trends in Instructional Design: Results of Research by ATD, IACET, and R&A.”
Dr. Rothwell, a professor of workforce education and development and prominent thought-leader and industry speaker, recently published his 90+ book, titled Organization Development Fundamentals: Managing Strategic Change. He will be at IACET’s booth on Tuesday, May 19, from 2:00 – 3:00 EDT to sign copies of his book.
IACET president Dr. Sandy Williams and director AnnMarie Jordan will join me in representing IACET at the ATD international conference and exposition.
